Cosmetic Dentistry and the Fountain of Youth

While a trip to the dentist’s office may not lead to a literal fountain of youth,  cosmetic dentistry can contribute to a more youthful look.

Consider how a beautiful smile can enhance your overall appearance and boost your confidence.

Maintaining a youthful appearance is a desire that many people have. However, with so many options in the cosmetic industry, choosing the right one for you can be daunting.

In this article, we’ll delve into the importance of cosmetic dentistry in maintaining a youthful appearance and explore the veneer process that can transform your smile in just a few hours.

This is also a personal account of my experience and recent procedures. As the Business Director for Allen Family Dentistry, I felt safe and assured of my treatment and its success.

The search for a youthful appearance

As we age, the search for the fountain of youth is inevitable.

The cosmetic industry is full of options to help men and women gracefully maintain their youthful appearance.

The possibilities are endless, from creams to serums to lasers and fillers.

One thing that needs to be remembered is your smile. Good dental health can contribute to overall health and wellness, which can help you feel and look younger.

Your teeth’s color, shape, and position can complete your youthful transformation and boost confidence and happiness!

Cosmetic dentistry is a piece of the aging maintenance puzzle we should remember.

Brittany’s journey

I recently had my cosmetic dentistry completed.

Yes, my “old” smile was not terrible.

I have been blessed with good teeth and wanted to maintain them properly.

I have suffered from TMJ since high school, and my deep bite and the accompanying clinching forced my front teeth to flair, leaving spaces between them.

So, the chosen fix was the beautiful veneers on my upper eight front teeth.

The restorations corrected the flair and spacing and improved the color and texture. No more chips, no more space, and no more discoloration!

Dr. Allen used a minimal prep technique, allowing me to keep most of my natural teeth under the porcelain restorations.

The process

My first step in the veneer process was a digital scan in place of an uncomfortable goopy impression.

If you have ever had a traditional impression, you know that they are not fun! From the digital image, Dr. Allen received a 3D-printed model of my existing teeth and one for my new smile!

“Let me tell you, this was a game-changer for me because this was the moment I knew I was making the right decision to have veneers done. I saw the difference and transformation before the procedure; in other words, I could see what people would see when they looked at my smile.”

It was amazing to see the difference and transformation before starting the procedure.

After discussing the models and confirming the plan, we were ready to prep about three weeks later.

The main procedure

My appointment was only about 2-1/2 hours and was surprisingly not that uncomfortable.

If you can tolerate filler or neurotoxin injections, you can certainly handle this!

To protect my teeth while my final restorations were manufactured, I left in “temporaries” or what I called a “uni-tooth.”

The process of seating the temporary was the most impressive part. Dr. Allen constructed the teeth from a small retainer-like tray, white temporary material, and a quick try-in over my newly prepped teeth.

In less than 5 minutes, I had a new smile.

Now I will say that this “uni-tooth” got old and annoying since I could not floss, but I was thankful to try out my new smile and the limited time it took to produce.

Stay tuned for the final results to see how things turn out!
